The Channel Nine network has dismissed claims made by an Aussie radio host that the idea for Hamish Blake and Andy Lee's new TV show, True Stories, was stolen from him.

As News Limited reports, David 'Luttsy' Lutteral of Nova's Brisbane breakfast show, Ash, Kip and Luttsy, alleged that he pitched the idea for the show, which retells extraordinary stories from regular Australians, "word for word" to Lee back in 2014 during a drink together in New York.

Lutteral claims that his idea, then called Cracking Yarns, had even started filming a pilot with his radio co-host, Ash Bradnam.

"Ash, you were part of the pilot we did," Lutteral said on air.

"I'd half shot that pilot and then other things have taken over so I haven't actually completed it."

Channel Nine shut down the allegations in a statement given to News Limited.

"Radio Karate [Hamish & Andy's production company] have confirmed that the format for the program True Story with Hamish & Andy was conceived, and was in development by Radio Karate, over a year before Andy and Luttsy met for a drink in New York," a Nine spokesperson said.

True Story premiered last night to an audience of 1.28 million viewers according to TV Tonight and will air every Monday night on Nine.
