They're on of the country's most-loved acts and that's been proven again with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard looking to make another impressive ARIA chart appearance.

According to mid-week figures, the Melbourne group are currently in the running for a Top 10 ARIA Albums Chart placing for their latest album, Butterfly 3000

This would give the band their 10th Australian Top 10 album in just their nine years of studio albums.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's previous Top 10 albums are:

  • 2013's Eyes Like The Sky at #10 (which landed at #10 following its vinyl re-issue in 2018)
  • 2017's Flying Microtonal Banana at #2
  • 2017's Murder Of The Universe at #3
  • 2017's Sketches Of Brunswick East at #4
  • 2017's Gumboot Soup at #6
  • 2019's Fishing For Fishies at #4
  • 2019's Infest The Rat's Nest at #2
  • 2020's KG at #9
  • 2021's LW at #4

Judging by past results for the band, Butterfly 3000 is also expected to make an impact on this week's Vinyl Albums Chart following its limited edition vinyl run.

Looking at the wider chart, Polo G is expected to make this week's highest debut on the chart with Hall Of Fame expected for the Top 3.

Garbage's latest No Gods No Masters (which The Music recently caught up with frontwoman Shirley Manson about) and Maroon 5's Jordi are both angling for Top 5, while Migos' Culture III is looking at Top 10.

Marina's Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land and the Cruella soundtrack are vying for Top 30 and Top 40 respectively.

Over on the Singles Chart, Lorde's first single in four years, Solar Power, is expected to debut in the Top 10, while Polo G's No Return is likely for Top 30 and Doja Cat's Need To Know is looking at Top 40.

Editor's note: this story has been amended to correct an error relating to the number of top ten albums the band have in Australia.
