The Sydney Film Festival is moving to later in 2021.

Following on from its successful summer run, the much-loved film event will now run from 18-29 August, shifting from 9-20 June.

The move is to "allow the Festival to continue to include films from major international festivals (in addition to Australia’s best new feature films and documentaries) in a year of date fluctuations around the world due to COVID-19".

The Sydney Film Festival will now "return to familiar cinemas across Sydney so audiences can once more explore our times through the medium of film".

The festival is currently accepting submissions for 2021, closing on Friday 26 March.
