In November last year, Peking Duk dropped their pretty unexpected children's book, dubbed DJ Duks - a “cautionary tale of two little ducks named Adam and Roobs with big dreams of fame, fortune and #millionfollowerstatus on Quakker."
The pair - Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles - have today announced that they, along with with BMG, are working with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) to help raise funds for the foundation.
Throughout Dukcember, three dollars from every DJ Duks book sold will go to ALNF, which will "contribute to education and literacy programs across the nation".
Additionally, the book will be available at a discounted rate and in gift bundles.
“We are super excited to be partnering with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation and to spread DJ Duks’ meaningful message to youth," said Hyde and Styles.
"We really believe in ALNF’s mission to instil a love of learning in young Australians and are proud to contribute and give back to the community."
"Our partnership with BMG and the incredibly talented Peking Duk is 'beyond fuego'. Dukcember gives ALNF an unprecedented opportunity to create awareness around our life-changing literacy programs with communities right around the country, and allows us to reach more children than ever before," added ALNF Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kim Kelly.
"Proceeds from DJ Duks will mean that marginalised kids will get the opportunity to dream big, and achieve everything they hope to. We are honoured to be working closely with a band so committed to making real change, who are standing with us to battle illiteracy, inequality and disadvantage”.
"During an inspiring meeting with ALNF it became immediately apparent that an alliance with BMG Australia could in some way help accelerate the momentum and awareness around the inspiring work the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation is doing around Australia," added Heath Johns, BMG Australia Managing Director.
"Music and learning go hand in hand and we are so honoured to come on board as an ally to the organisation as they continue to do such important and inspiring work.
"We are pleased to work alongside our amazing clients Peking Duk on this first initiative with DJ Duks, and as we promised the team we have no doubt that this will be the first of many collaborations. Kim, Jasmine and the team are the real rockstars here but we are more than happy to be their roadies!"
