Queensland live music venue NightQuarter will reopen its doors in early 2020, one year after it was forced to close due to increased rent.
Moving from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast, the popular night market and entertainment destination will reopen in January, following “initial construction delays”.
Located at 8 The Avenue in Birtinya, NightQuarter will feature new installations, new food concepts, new precincts and five stages, with its beloved NightQuarter Live, which previously hosed Amy Shark, UB40 and more, making a return.
“We want to continue to connect people and create moments of joy,” co-owner Michelle Christoe said.
“NightQuarter will be a place for the incubation of talent and creativity…we are working closely with a number of local organisation, artists and community leaders.”
The venue will also continue to place a strong focus on sustainability.
“The NightQuarter space is created from recycled materials, from shipping containers to reclaimed timbers to artworks created from salvaged plastics,” Christoe said.
“The new site will feature a series of artworks created in collaboration with artist Tracie Eaton using reclaimed bubble wrap, cans and plastics. Stallholders will use compostable packaging and containers and customers are encouraged to bring their own containers. We will be working with local charity organisation Wishlist and Envirobank to recycle bottles and cans.”
