The new Ned Kelly film starring New Zealand songwriter Marlon Williams and Russell Crowe has finally been given a premiere date.

True History Of The Kelly Gang, “a fictionalised re-telling of the life and crimes of infamous 19th-century Australian outlaw Ned Kelly", will hit select cinemas on 9 January before premiering on Stan on Sunday 26 January,

As well as Williams, who stars as George King, the film features a string of big names including George MacKay (Captain Fantastic), Charlie Hunnam (Sons Of Anarchy) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road).

True History Of The Kelly Gang is directed by Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth, Assassin's Creed).

Meanwhile, the second season of Matt Okine's comedy series, The Other Guy, will also screen on Stan from 13 December.

The premiere dates come with news that the Sydney Opera House have announced a partnership with Stan today, which will see the iconic venue and local streaming service "collaborate on co-branded events and digital content that will promote and celebrate the best in Australian arts, culture and entertainment".

"As well as launching original Australian productions and content, this collaboration will give Stan’s growing community of more than 1.7 million subscribers’ access to the Sydney Opera House’s digital programming," Sydney Opera House CEO, Louise Herron AM, said.
