Australian talent continues to make its mark overseas, with some of the country’s best nominated for Pollstar awards.
As its talent-packed 2020 event approaches, beloved Byron Bay extravaganza Bluesfest has been nominated for Best International Music Festival for the ninth time, while local promoters Michael Chugg (Chugg Entertainment) and Michael Gudinski (Mushroom Group) – who announced a groundbreaking partnership earlier this year – are both up for International Promoter of the Year.
Bluesfest has some tough competition to beat, appearing alongside UK events Glastonbury Festival, British Summer Time Hyde Park and Isle Of Wight Festival, as well as Spain’s Primavera Sound and Brazil’s Rock In Rio.
“To be included in a shortlist of the world’s greatest music festivals alongside so many incredible events is such an honour. Congratulations to everyone involved,” Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble said.
“The Bluesfest team, all the festival contractors and the artists are who make it all happen but a special thank you to each and every person who attended our 30th birthday celebration. We have every intention of presenting our best-ever festival in 2020 and to hopefully be nominated for the 10th time in 2020!”
Meanwhile, 5 Seconds Of Summer are vying for Best Support/Special Guest Act following their stint on The Chainsmokers’ World War Joy Tour, with Joan Jett, Nile Rogers, Modest Mouse and more also scoring nominations in that category.
This year’s winners will be announced during the Pollstar Live! Conference on February 6 in LA.
