Simple Minds will head Down Under next year as part of their 40th anniversary concert series.

The Scottish rock group, who are best-known for their hit Don't You (Forget About Me), have announced the Australian run of their 40 Years Of Hit tour, which will include a stint of shows with A Day On The Green as well as headline arena shows.

"It's been said that Simple Minds has a love affair with Australia and I think that’s true," said frontman Jim Kerr.

"I cannot tell you how much fun we had during that six-week period,” he said of the group's first-ever Australian shows in 1981.

"Going from nobodies to overnight success due to our appearance on Countdown. People were screaming for us to play encores. We’ve always had a wonderful bond with Australian audiences.”

The shows will kick off in late November next year, starting in Perth and then heading to Yarra Valley, Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley and Mount Cotton.

Simple Minds will be joined by UK group  Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) for all shows of the tour.

Tickets for the shows go on sale from 10am local time on Monday 18 November, head to theGuide for all the info.
