Music and arts festival Flow has announced that South African artist Sho Madjozi will no longer be performing at its debut event this December.
Madjozi’s management has cited the current political climate in her country and the fact the festival falls on South Africa’s Reconciliation Day, December 14.
“We are deeply saddened by this situation, however, we are fully supportive of this decision,” Flow Festival’s Arthur Tanzi said.
“We look forward to working with her in the future as we have the utmost respect for her artistry, but also for what she stands for."
Local artists Milan Ring and Agung Mango have been announced as replacements for the one-day Footscray Community Arts Centre festival which will celebrate “the communal exchange of aural and kinetic energy”.
Previously-confirmed acts include US headliners Digable Planets, local favourites Kaiit, Baro & The Baz Richie Sextet, SO.Crates, Public Opinion Afro Orchestra and more.
