The owners of popular Melbourne bar Horse Bazaar have announced they will be closing its door this November. 

In a statement posted online on Thursday night, Taka and Fumi Tamura said the Little Lonsdale Street building "has been sold and sadly for us the new landlord doubled our rent, leaving us with a very hard decision to make… "

"We are very sad that we can’t continue to run Horse Bazaar due to the rising costs, but at the same time, we feel very blessed and lucky to have been here for so many exciting years with all of our loyal friends and supporters," the statement reads.

Horse Bazaar has previously hosted gigs from acts like Tash Sultana, Alice Ivy and ORCHA. 

The venue officially closes on Saturday 30 November.
