Today Montaigne Found Out Just How Heavy (And Pointy) An ARIA Award Is

If you've ever looked at an ARIA Award and thought, “That looks dangerous,” you're not wrong - and Aussie artist Montaigne will be the first to agree.

Posting to Twitter, the singer-songwriter, who picked up an ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist in 2016, shared some insight into just how heavy and pointy the awards actually are.

After falling off a wall while indoor bouldering last month, Montaigne was advised by a physio to do calf exercises while carrying weight.

“I have no gym weights at home, so I decided I’d fill a backpack full of heavy stuff I own,” she said.

“The heaviest thing I own is, undeniably, my ARIA award. That shit is at least a few kilograms of hard, pointy metal. I first threw in a copy of 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, then Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi, then my ARIA award on top. The bag does not zip.”

Montaigne's latest album, Complex, which The Music described as "a gorgeous journey of self-discovery, determination and growth", dropped last month.
