Punters who witnessed an impromptu headline performance from Melbourne Ska Orchestra’s Nicky Bomba and a number of Aussie legends at AirlieBeach Music Festival last year will be delighted to hear the group are set to do it again at the 2019 event.
Bomba, joined by rock’n’roll legends Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde and John Williamson’s fiddle player Clare O'Meara, took to the stage at the end of last year’s event when Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell became unwell and was unable to perform.
The set went over so well that the group – now dubbed the Airlie Beach All Stars – will do it all over again this November.
“I think we’ve got the perfect finish to the festival this year,” festival founder Gavin Butlin said.
The Airlie Beach All Stars will join previously-confirmed acts John Butler, John Williamson, Smokie, Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project, The Superjesus, Mahalia Barnes and stacks more from 8-10 November.
Head to the festival’s website for more details.
