170 Russell management have announced a gig scheduled for tonight has been moved to a new venue following a fire this past weekend.
Hundreds of punters were evacuated on Saturday night after a blaze broke out at the rear of the stage. Paramedics arrived around 10pm and took 30 minutes to stop the blaze.
US rapper Pouya was scheduled to perform at the Melbourne venue tonight, however it has been moved to Max Watt's.
170 Russell is expected to re-open on Friday night in time for UK outfit Cradle Of Filth's headline show.
"Patron safety is always our first and foremost priority and we are thankful that no one was injured," management said in a statement posted to Facebook.
"The fire started in, and was contained to, an industrial extraction fan unit located in the roof behind the stage."
"The venue fire sprinklers activated immediately containing the fire, as did the emergency smoke extractors which sucked smoke out of the building."
