Blobfish Beer Festival hits Melbourne this weekend, offering up an array of unique and not-to-be-missed brews from across the globe.
Promising “rare and unusual” beers, this year’s festival will feature 15 of the best craft breweries from Australia alongside two from New Zealand and special US guest The Rare Barrel, all of whom will showcase their “sour, wild, funky, barrel-aged, and mixed-fermentation” works of art at North Melbourne’s Meat Market across two sessions on Saturday.
“People who think they don’t like beer will try a cherry sour, or a barrel-aged saison, or something fruity with a bit of funk in it, and it’s unlike anything they’ve ever tried, and they love it,” co-organiser Sam Hambour of Hop Nation Brewing Co said.
Among the local breweries showcasing will be Beer Farm from WA, Ocho and Van Dieman from Tasmania, Wildflower from NSW, Fathom by Green Beacon from Queensland and more.
There’ll also be live music, a pop-up restaurant, courtesy of Worksmith, wine from Quealy Wines in Red Hill and an appearance from The Beer and Cheese Theory, who specialise in cheese and beer matching.
