After topping this past weekend's ARIA Singles chart for the third-straight week, burgeoning Aussie songwriter Tones & I has snapped an over-ten year drought on the list.
The Byron Bay-based artist's hit song Dance Monkey again placed at #1 making her the first Australian female solo act to top the Singles chart for at least three weeks since Gabriella Cilmi's Sweet About Me (four weeks at #1, May-June 2008).
It comes only a week after Tones & I posted three songs in the top 25 which an Australian act hasn't done since 30 June 2014 by Sydney outfit 5 Seconds Of Summer.
Already becoming one of Australia's hottest names in music, Tones & I is also making massive waves internationally. As well as jumping up 22 spots on the UK Singles chart to land at #60, Dance Monkey has peaked at #1 in Sweden and Norway, as well as #2 in Finland, #9 in Denmark and #17 in New Zealand.
The outstanding chart results at home and abroad come only weeks before Tones & I heads to Brisbane for BIGSOUND 2019, where she'll be arguably the most-talked about artist at the annual showcase. Tones will then embark on her debut tour of Australia before flying overseas to perform sold out dates in London and Europe.
