Much-loved Brisbane group WAAX are finally dropping their debut album this week and fans will be getting a preview of it on triple j ahead of its release.

Dubbed Big Grief, the album has picked up this week’s Feature Album spot on the station.

"I think people are gonna be surprised by it," vocalist Maz DeVita told The Music recently. "There’s lots of ebbs and flows to the record and, yeah, hopefully people see us in a different or more mature light."

"There’s slower tracks on there. It’s kind of more subdued production on some tracks.

"I think we’ve always been looking for points in the set where we could explore those things and kind of give the set more room to breathe, because then the bigger moments are even bigger when they’re put next to a slower song." Read the full interview with DeVita here.

Listeners will also be hearing a heap of Icelandic act Of Monsters & Men who have picked up an Album Packet for the week.

Added to regular rotation this week is Ninajirachi's Water Gun, Alex The Astronaut's I Like To Dance, CXLOE's Sick (feat. Gnash), Dune Rats' Rubber Arm, Spacey Jane's Good For You, ChillinIT's Freedom, SiR's Hair Down (feat. Kendrick Lamar) and Charli XCX and Christine & The Queens' Gone

Picking up spot plays this week is Stevan's LNT, Octavian's Feel It (feat. Theophilus London), LOSER's Out Of Luck, Tkay Maidza's Awake (feat. JPEGMAFIA) and EGOISM's What Are We Doing?
