Ever woken up and realised you've blown way too much money on drinks at a festival? One punter surely would have after realising they'd dropped $3,600 on food and drinks in one day at an Aussie gig.
Global payments provider Square have today shared info about the spending habits of patrons at Aussie music festivals and live music events over the past 12 months.
The report revealed that the average spend on food and drinks via card in a day at a festival is $60, with a further 20% spending more than $100.
Beer takes out first place as the most popular drink at festivals all around the country at 33% (except in South Australia), with spirits and cocktails second with 22%, followed by premix drinks (17%) and non-alcoholic beverages (12%), cider (11%) and wine (5%).
Vodka & Red Bull was the most popular drink in the spirit and cocktail category nationally but it seems that Victorians prefer espresso martinis, Queenslanders' like rum & coke, South Australians are after gin & tonics, while those in New South Wales will opt for a Canadian Club and Western Australia will take a dark & stormy.
Good luck with the festival season hangover, festival-goers!
