Following the launch of a public beta, ASX-listed music database company Jaxsta has announced a partnership with Merlin aka the Music And Entertainment Rights Licensing Independent Network.

The commercial data access agreement will grant Jaxsta a partnership deal with the "global digital rights agency for the world's independent label sector" and its participating members.

Merlin currently has 800 members and represents tens of thousands of record labels from 63 countries.

Jacqui Louez Schoorl, Jaxsta’s Chief Executive Officer was very excited to announce "this important partnership".

"The independent music industry has supported our journey from the beginning, and we have been proud to support independent music through a myriad of initiatives including our memberships with A2IM, AIM and AIR," she said.

"To be able to represent the wider community via a partnership with Merlin is a dream come true."

Charles Caldas, CEO of Merlin also said, “Delivering accurate and transparent data reporting is of crucial importance both to Merlin and our growing global membership of independent labels and distributors.

"This partnership with Jaxsta will help ensure our members’ repertoire is properly accredited, wherever in the world it is accessed and enjoyed.”

Set to revolutionise credit information in the music industry, Jaxsta was launched in 2015 by Jacqui Louez Schoorl and Louis Schoorl and contains more than 100 million music credits.

The database is content-owner supplied not crowd sourced and, as per the company's mission statement, wants "to give credit where credit is due".
