The year of the yee-haw is in full swing and US rapper Lil Nas X is dominating charts across the globe, including Australia.
After breaking a huge Billboard hip hop record last week, country-trap anthem Old Town Road continued its reign on the ARIA Single chart across the weekend.

If Lil Nas X does hold onto the top place this week, it will sit alongside Pharrell Williams’ Happy, Eminem’s Lose Yourself and Dinah Shore’s Buttons And Bows, all of which sat at #1 for 12 weeks following release, while The Beatles’ Hey Jude, Coolio’s Gangsta's Paradise, and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Justin Bieber collab, Despacito, reached 13 weeks.
In order to claim the all-time record of longest weeks at #1, Old Town Road will need to surpass ABBA’s Fernando at 14 weeks and Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You at 15 weeks.
