Artists can no longer upload music to Spotify themselves with the streaming giant reverting the changes they made back in September.

According to Pitchfork, Spotify have no reverted the beta feature which was launched last year and allowed artists to share their work "without needing to use a traditional distributor or third-party company (eg. Tunecore, Distrokid, and Stem)".

The service has shared that this is “The best way for us to serve artists and labels is to focus our resources on developing tools in areas where Spotify can uniquely benefit them — like Spotify for Artists... and our playlist submission tool," and that they are working on ways to make the transition as easy as possible for artists.

When initially launched last year, Spotify for Artists was available by invitation for a select group of US artists before being offered to a larger group.
