Melbourne live music venue Corner Hotel has unveiled the 33 acts vying for the 2019 Corner Award, with some serious talent making today’s longlist announcement.

Entering its fourth year, the annual Corner Award was launched “as a way to give a bit back to the music community, celebrating the next generation of local musicians who are doing amazing things”, and has previously been awarded to Sampa The Great, Cable Ties and Baker Boy.

The 2019 Corner Award includes a $5,000 cash prize, as well as promotion and production for a Corner Hotel gig, pre-production time at Bakehouse Studios, $1,000 towards artwork costs, alongside posters, merch and more.

Those named on the shortlist will receive rehearsal time at Bakehouse Studios, as well as food and drink vouchers for Corner Hotel.

The longlist was curated by a “brain trust of experts”, with the winner unveiled later this year at a to-be-announced ceremony.
