Hobart just scored a massive new cultural and entertainment district, thanks to the team behind world-renowned event Dark Mofo.
The $5 million project from Mona’s DarkLab, named In The Hanging Garden, will take over nearly an entire city block in the centre of Hobart, and will host regular live music.
The precinct has been in the works for the past two years and will officially open on June 5 to coincide with Dark Mofo 2019 kicking off.
“We have a vision for this site to become a significant cultural facility in the heart of Hobart,” DarkLab Director Leigh Carmichael said.
“We hope it inspires a reinvigorated CBD, and that other businesses can also capitalise. There is momentum building in Hobart at present, and this project has the potential to be a game-changer for the city centre.”
