Australia Council has unveiled its latest round of Contemporary Music Touring grant recipients, including Queensland duo Busby Marou, alt-country singer-songwriter Gretta Ziller and nine other acts.
The funding totals $198,000 and will result in more than 150 gigs from June until early next year, some reaching regional and remote areas.
Busby Marou were awarded $15,000 to embark on their 14-date Tiny Towns tour in October, while Ziller’s $14,220 will assist in a huge 25-date album tour that kicks off that same month.
Celebrated Australian musician David Bridie ($11,000) will tour the country next month in support of his latest album, The Wisdom Line, with South African-born Canberra-based rapper KG ($14,960) also hitting the road in July, along with Skyscraper Stan ($6,000), Zennith ($14,700), Perth’ s Tura New Music ($30,000) and David Garnham & The Reasons To Live ($15,000), the latter of whom will oversee workshops in Alice Springs, Katherine and more during their 37-date endeavour.
Others to receive funding this round include jazz outfit Spirograph Studies ($14,900), First Nations producer Monkey Marc ($30,000) and Regional Arts Victoria ($17,567), who will use the funds to tour Kutcha Edwards around regional and remote Tasmania.
