If you thought the Dark Mofo 2019 program couldn't get any bigger, well bite your tongue because a whole stack more music and art has been announced.
Organisers have today revealed the program for the free outdoor, after-dark art walk Dark Path, three weeks of performances at DarkLab’s new live music venue Altar, additional performance work and all the delicious feasting to be done at Winter Feast.
In addition to the existing music program, Altar will host performances from Briggs, Kelsey Lu (USA), Lonnie Holley (USA), Kira Piru, Totally Unicorn, These New South Whales and many more. They join a massive program of acts that includes the likes of FKA twigs, Empress Of, Nicolas Jaar and Dirty Three.
Dark Path will see a brand new art trail take shape from Hobart’s waterfront Regatta Grounds up through the urban bushland of the Queen’s Domain and through to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. The path will include artwork from Tony Oursler (USA), Julie Gough, SJ Norman, Chris Henschke, Naomi Blacklock, and more.
If walking isn't really your thing, UK artist Jimmy Cauty will station his Aftermath Dislocation Principle outside Hobart Town Hall. Contained in a forty-foot shipping container, punters will be able to peep into a large-scale diorama model of a dystopian post-riot scene.
Dark Mofo takes place from 6-23 June in Hobart and tickets are on sale now.
