Some of Australia's brightest music talent have shone on the world stage, dominating the US-based International Songwriting Competition, which revealed its 2018 winners overnight. 

Aussies took out top honours in two categories with The Presets awarded first place in the Electronic Dance Music category for Downtown Shutdown and Robbie Melville winning the Instrumental slot with Junkyard

There were even more local second and third placings in the competition; Wax Motif placed second in the Electronic Dance Music category for I Can't Hold; The Rubens feat Sarah Aarons' Never Ever won silver for Pop/Top40; Pete Denahy placed second in the Comedy category for Bat In A Cave; Casey Barnes won bronze in the Country genre for Be Mine; and John Walsh came in third in the Lyrics Only category for Things I've Learned.

Honourable mentions were also awarded to Sahara Beck, Missy Higgins, Georgi Kay, Nick Payne, Fiona Boyes, David Reeve, Melanie Dyer, Amastro, Milton Man Gogh, Amaru Tribe, Shane Timmo, Bobby Alu, Whitefield, Tenielle Neda and Nick de la Hoyde.
