A 30-year-old man has been charged by police after he was allegedly caught filming a woman in the toilets of a Sydney bar this past weekend.
As 7 News reports, a woman has alleged she was in the cubicle of the female bathroom at popular Oxford Street bar Burdekin Hotel around 1am last Saturday when she saw a mobile phone, which appeared to be recording, emerge from under the dividing wall.
The woman reportedly looked over the wall to see a man holding a mobile phone and reported it to venue security who then contacted police.
The alleged offender, Medhi Gaci, was detained by security while trying to leave the Burdekin and was later found to also be in possession of cannabis.
Appearing in Central Local Court on Tuesday, the French national pleaded guilty to the drug possession, but not guilty to the charges of intentionally recording intimate images without consent.
Police praised the alleged victim for coming forward.
"We want to congratulate her for being so brave in the situation," Inspector Jason Pietruszka said.
"We are looking through the male's phone, we are looking if he's done this again on the night."
Gaci was granted bail and is scheduled to return to Downing Centre Local Court in June.
