The much-loved Prince Public Bar is closing its doors until 2020 for a "major overhaul".
The bar at the iconic St Kilda location is throwing its farewell this weekend, giving patrons one last chance to party until its grand reopening next year.
The temporary closure is the final stage of "The Prince Hotel’s royal revival" which has seen the venue be progressively renovated over the past eight years by owners Gerry and Andy Ryan.
According to Broadsheet, the Prince Of Wales Hotel was first opened in 1936 and fast became a Melbourne icon, known for its vast offering and crowds, which often included the likes of rockstars like The Rolling Stones and Sting as much as it would uni students and local residents.
The Public Bar will be farewelled with sets from Dacy & DJ Dan Watt tonight from 8pm and tomorrow with the Elwood Blues Club from 4pm. For more info, head here.
