For the very first time, Sounds Australia will take its popular showcase, THE AUSSIE BBQ, to New York this June.
Presented by Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage, Sounds Australia will celebrate its tenth anniversary by taking the SXSW-favourite showcase to Central Park on 22 June, with performances from huge local names like AB Original, Tkay Maidza, San Cisco, Hermitude, WAAX and The Teskey Brothers.
“Being able to present a line-up of such important talent, in the heart of New York City in celebration of ten years of exporting Australian music to the world, is a milestone event we are incredibly proud of," Sounds Australia Executive Producer Millie Millgate said.
"We are hoping that this inaugural showcase is only the first of many and just the beginning of a long term partnership with SummerStage.”
The event will mark the first time Sounds Australia has presented a showcase in New York since the CMJ Music Marathon in 2015.
Australian Consul-General to New York, Alastair Walton, said the Consulate is "so pleased" to bring the showcase to New York.
"The sharing of cultures and art between our two great countries is what makes us such close friends. Earlier this year the Consulate brought the triple j Hottest 100 countdown to New York and supported The Rubens on their North American Tour – THE AUSSIE BBQ SummerStage is going to be a fantastic afternoon with long reaching connections and impact.”
