WA's WAMFest, WAMCon and WAMAwards will return in 2019 with some exciting additions and shake-ups.

Mark Neal (The Sewing Room, Blue Grey Pin) has been confirmed as the Festival Director for this year's WAMFest, taking place from 1-3 November.

"Mark has been an integral part in delivering the last two festivals and his ongoing commitment and dedication to the organisation, while working closely with key WAM staff, gives us the confidence that this year will see an even better WAMFest," WAM General Manager Livia Carré said.

Neal will take on the new role having previously worked in the coordinating team for WAMFest in 2017.

“I’m excited to back on board again this year," Neal said.

"Skinny and I set some nice things in motion over the last couple of years as co-coordinators and I’m excited to be stepping up to Festival Director for the 2019 event.

"WA is full of great music! It’s exciting and it’s diverse. This an excellent musical community and I want to honour it by providing an overall better festival experience for everyone involved.”

Meanwhile, Claire Hodgson will take on coordinating duties for WAMCon 2019 , which is set to be its biggest event yet.

“There will be a greater focus on sustainability, community and creativity this year, with the event again being housed at the beautiful State Theatre Centre of WA as part of WAMFest," Hodgson said.

"With practical, bespoke, and future-focused sessions to support music makers and businesses to get their music to the next level, we can’t wait!”

The 2019 WAMAwards will go ahead at the Hyatt Regency Perth on 31 October, while WAMCon will take place from 1-2 November.
