So it turns out the Eurovision finale and Australia's federal election will be going ahead on the same day, but never fear, SBS have a plan so you don't miss any of the action.

As noted by SBS, Prime Minister Scott Morrison's decision to call the election on 18 May will go ahead at the same time Australia could be watching Kate Miller-Heidke compete for the 2019 crown in Tel Aviv.

In a statement given to The Music today, the broadcaster confirmed the election would not impede on anyone wanting to put their votes forward in the global singing competition.

“SBS will broadcast the Semi Finals and Grand Final live at 5am on Wednesday 15, Friday 17 and Sunday 19 May when Australians will be able to vote at the same time as Europe," an SBS spokesperson said.

"The main broadcast with backstage highlights and interviews will be shown in primetime in the evenings. Dates and times will be announced soon, but rest assured Australians will be able to watch twice the amount of drama unfold in what is shaping up to be the double bill of the century.”

The news comes a week after Roger Waters sent a personal video message to Miller-Heidke urging the Brisbane artist to boycott this year's Eurovision.
