Organisers of the Bendigo Autumn Music (BAM) festival have today announced the event will no longer be going ahead.

The debut festival was set to take place in the rural Victorian town from 25-28 April, with Kurt Vile & The Violators, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Mojo Juju and Tex Perkins & The Fat Rubber Band just a few names confirmed on the line-up.

Organisers have advised that ticket refunds will be issued in the coming days.

"It’s been one of the most difficult calls the promoter has ever had to make but unfortunately it’s just not viable for us to produce the festival & line up through next month," a statement posted to Facebook today reads.

"With only 30 days until the event, we have had to make the responsible decision and cancel 4 weeks out, in order to give artists, those that did purchase tickets, and our partners, adequate notice."

BAM director Glenn Wright said he is "absolutely gutted" about the tough decision.

"As the director of the company that was producing the event I feel absolutely gutted, but also feel it my responsibility to cancel the festival 4 weeks out in order to give artists, those that did purchase tickets, and partners adequate notice in order to limit the loss of an event that simply didn’t achieve its desired objective, being the sale of enough tickets to make the event financially viable," he said.
