Dean Lewis had already made quite an impact before the release of his debut album A Place We Know last week and now it's looking likely that the album will land in the top three on this week's ARIA Albums Chart.
In addition to the album's chart debut, Lewis' new track Stay Awake is also expected to make its first appearance in the top 30 on the Singles Chart. His hits 7 Minutes and Be Alright are also expected to land in the top 10 and 20 respectively.
"A Place We Knew, it tells a story in a single sentence," Lewis shared in a recent interview with The Music. “To me, it [evokes] that I recorded these songs in all these different places around the world.
"And, secondly, it has this specific feeling to it. You know when you drive past an old house you used to live in with an ex-girlfriend, or whatever, and it’s two years later, and everyone’s moved on, but there’s all those feelings, and emotions, and memories of that place, and it’s quite a bittersweet feeling. A lot of the songs have that longing to it. That’s so powerful to me. It sums up everything."
Fellow Aussie act Flume dropped his Hi This Is Flume mixtape last week, which is looking likely to hit the top 10 on the Albums Chart alongside Motley Crue's biopic soundtrack, The Dirt, and Rich The Kid's The World Is Yours 2 should debut in the top 30.
Bryan Adams' recent Australian tour is likely to have an impact on the chart too, with his latest album Shine A Light looking likely for top 25.
It's been a big week for surprise music, with Tame Impala's long-awaited new track Patience expected to debut in the top 50 on the Singles Chart. Ava Max's latest So Am I is edging just ahead of Patience though, looking likely to land in the top 40 of the week.
