Music Victoria have today announced the first-ever participants and mentors in their pioneering Cultivate program, the first women-only leadership program for music industry leaders.

The program, which runs in partnership with the Victorian Government, is aimed at mid-career and established women working in the Victorian music industry, "who wish to further their leadership and management skills," as well as develop new skills by partnering participants with CEOs, senior role holders and experienced mentors.

Announced as the first participants in the program are A Hitch to the Sticks Festival director, artist and Collarts industry mentor Dallas Frasca, The Push CEO Kate Duncan, Look Out Kid Co-Owner and Barely Dressed Records general manager Katie Besgrove, Bad Apples Music label manager Coco Eke and Corner Group music & marketing manager Sally Mather

"The women selected for this program are leaders in our music industry who possess the potential to influence and empower other women," shares Minister For Women Gabrielle Williams.

"Throughout this program, they will attend masterclasses, get personalised leadership coaching, be supported by an experienced mentor, and build a strong network to help them take the next step in their leadership."

The five participants will spend one-on-one time with the likes of Amander Walker (co-founder & owner Lord Of The Fries and Weirdoughs), Mia Klitsas (co-founder & director Moxie Products and The Brand Maketh), Jackie Antas (general manager - communications at Ticketmaster/Live Nation Entertainment, Australia and New Zealand), Leonie Morgan AM (consultant and board director) and Sarah Davies (CEO Philanthropy Australia) who will help them further develop their leadership skills.

In addition to this, participants will also undergo an Executive Leadership Coaching course from Leadership Victoria and four specialised leadership masterclasses, as well as already having attended an all-day workshop hosted by AAM's Leanne de Souza on 20 March which included a keynote speech from Chloe Shorten and ACMI CEO Katrina Sedgwick

“The Cultivate program is a genius idea and I couldn't be more stoked and grateful to be a recipient alongside these inspiring woman paving paths in Australia," shares Frasca.

"The incredible initiative will have a long-lasting impact on the music industry and be felt for the years to come. 'Give a woman a fish, and you'll feed her for a day. Teach a woman to fish, and you've fed her for a lifetime.' That's the saying right?"
