It’s a big day for Australian singer-songwriter Dan Sultan, who not only celebrates the release of his latest LP, Aviary Takes, but a stunning new video, all while touring the county.
The new album, “crafted following a year of self-assessment and recalibration”, sees Sultan rework some of his classics, while also offering up captivating covers of Florence & The Machine’s Dog Days Are Over, Gillian Welch’s Look At Miss Ohio and Michael Kiwanuka’s Love & Hate, the latter of which now has an accompanying music video.
“Aviary Takes has been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience,” Sultan said.
“I’ve been able to go over songs from my past catalogue and also record a few tunes from some of my favourite artists. It’s very stripped back and it’s the first time I’ve worked with the great and very talented Matt Redlich, who produced the sessions.
“We had a great time making the album in the heart of Melbourne, at his Aviary Studios.”
The Aviary Takes tour continues tomorrow night in Bendigo; check out theGuide for all the details.
