Iconic US session drummer Hal Blaine is confirmed to have passed away on Monday at the age of 90.
As Variety reports, the family of Blaine, who was a prominent member of LA collective Wrecking Crew, confirmed his passing on Facebook.
“May he rest forever on two and four,” the statement reads.
“The family appreciates your outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Hal from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning."
Throughout his illustrious career, Blaine drummed with a number of big acts including Frank Sinatra, Dusty Springfield, Chet Baker Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, America, Helen Reddy, John Denver and The Partridge Family, as well as on Ike and Tina Turner's 1966 classic, River Deep - Mountain High.
Blaine also featured on a number of Record Of The Year Grammy-winning tracks including Simon & Garfunkel's Mrs Robinson and Bridge Over Troubled Waters
The Massachusetts-born musician received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Grammys.
Fellow Working Crew member and keyboardist Don Randi told Variety that Blaine "was a trend setter for rock ‘n’ roll drumming".
