If you’re serious about your laughs and want the chance to be immortalised as a true legend of the Melbourne comedy scene, then head over to MICF’s website this week and sign up for the annual Funny Tonne competition.
Each year, Melbourne International Comedy Festival invites a handful of die-hard comedy lovers to go head to head in a race to see who can attend and review the most shows.
In 2019, contestants will also be asked to chronicle their travels on a daily basis, with the winner crowned "based on the detail and depth of their reviews as well as the number of shows seen”.
The record to break is 178 shows, set by comedy maestro Sarah Trevarthen back in 2015 - that’s around 60 shows a week! Last year’s winner, Alistair Bryant, managed to make it to 161 shows.
To enter, catch a Raw Comedy Award heat this week, and submit two 150 word reviews by Friday 15 Mar. Full details of how to apply to 2019's Funny Tonne Competition are available on the MICF website.
