The 2019 edition of The Drop kicks off next weekend and ahead of the touring beach festival, we spoke to some of the acts on this year's line-up to tell us their favourite destinations.

The Drop will commence in Newcastle on 16 March before moving through Manly, Coolangatta, Torquay and Busselton. Tickets are on sale now, but are selling fast. For more details, click on theGuide.

Julia Stone (Angus & Julia Stone)

Around where Angus and I grew up. I spent so much time on those beaches, that the whole area feels like a part of me.  I love Whale Beach. The way the water fills up the space,  like a huge ocean pool.

Portsea front beach, although it has sadly now been washed away by tides and eaten up by land-hungry baby boomers.

Hockey Dad

Usually we wouldn’t disclose this kind of information... in fact, we are going to stick to our word! The beaches that mean the most to us are kept close to our hearts. There is nothing better than paddling out your favourite zone and having a sick time with just yourself and a few mates.

The Jungle Giants

I’ve been spending a lot of time around Northern NSW beaches like Ocean shores, Brunswick Heads and Fingal lately. That whole stretch of the northern NSW coast is stunning. Lots to explore, beautiful swimming spots and its not crowed. You can always find a your own little space somewhere. Love it.

Alex The Astronaut

Resolute beach is probably about an hours drive north of Sydney and it’s like a weird dream. You have to walk for about an hour to get there and my best friend and I got lost the first time we went. We brought an esky of food and he has diabetes so we went full Bear Grylls and started rationing out food, we were about to call in the helicopters to find us when we got around one corner and found the prettiest cove beach I’ve ever seen. It looks across to Pittwater and when you walk into the water its like a bowl that holds the water at about chest height through the bay. It’s clear blue and surrounded by trees. Only boats or hikers that have found their way there can get to it. I love it.
