Australia's pop princess Kylie Minogue is set to kick off her Golden Australian tour in a little under a week but there’s a chance she might perform a little sooner than we all think...
According to a post on her Instagram, Minogue landed back in Aus a couple of days ago and has nothing scheduled ahead of her Sydney show on Tuesday 5 March - which makes us question, is Minogue going to make a surprise appearance at this weekend's Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras celebrations?
Now, we don't want to alarm you but here's some reasons why we think it's plausible:
- Minogue's got an extensive history of Mardi Gras post-Parade Party appearances. She performed at the 1994, 1998 and 2012 parties, so it could be time.
- Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears, who's supporting Minogue on the Golden tour, is headlining this year's Party. We're pretty sure that he wouldn't mind sharing the spotlight with his BFF Kylie.
- Last year's event was headlined by Cher. Of course it has to be Kylie to follow that up.
Given all of this, we reached out the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras organisers to see if there's any chance that Minogue could be making an appearance. A spokesperson for the event advised "they were not making any comments."
So read into it what you will, but maybe this will be the year for Minogue's grand Mardi Gras return?
