Red Hot Chili Peppers kicked off the first of two Sydney shows last night and it seems that those in attendance scored themselves an extra special show, with the US group playing a track that hasn't been performed in over a decade.

According to the stats on Setlist.FM, the band haven't played their track Fortune Faded since 2007 and chose Sydney fans as the lucky crowd to share it with.

The track was released as a single, along with B-Sides Eskimo and Bunker Hill, in 2003.

One front row fan has caught the performance and has shared it on YouTube overnight; check it out below.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will play their second and final Sydney show of the tour tonight, before travelling around the country and wrapping up in Perth in early-March.
