The opening show of Red Hot Chili Peppers' Australian tour was temporarily stopped last following a reported power outage.

According to The Mercury, the outage occurred just after the US rockers kicked off the set at Derwent Entertainment Centre with Can't Stop.

Frontman Anthony Kiedis reportedly engaged with fans at the front of the stage to get the message out that his microphone wasn't working, while bassist Flea kept the crowd entertained by performing handstands.

Australian promoter Live Nation told The Music, "The delay was caused by an irregularity in the incoming voltage, which effected the power to the stage".

The show was stopped for 15 minutes while the outage was tended to, before it resumed without incident.
