The annual Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition is officially open and songwriters across the globe are encouraged to apply now.
Participants will go in the running to win a first-place cash prize of $50,000, courtesy of APRA AMCOS, Alberts and BMG.
Previous winners of the competition (named after iconic songwriters and founding members of The Easybeats, Harry Vanda and the late George Young), include Kimbra, Isabella Manfredi and 2018 winner, Amy Shark with her breakout song, Adore.
"Adore connected with fans in a magical way and opened so many doors for me," Shark said.
"Winning the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition was an incredible honour and helped me fund the next phase of my career."
Runners-up prizes also include cash rewards, with the second-placed entrant to receive $10,000 and the third-placed entrant to receive $5,000.
The 'Unpublished' category will return in 2019 following its successful debut last year, which was taken out by Mallrat with her song, Better.
Last year’s competition brought in an all-time high 4,056 entries from 3,296 songwriters in 30 countries. Since its inception, songwriters who have entered the competition have helped raise over $1 million to help fund Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia.
Entries close at 11.59pm AEDT on 12 April. For more details, click here.
