The Eurovision - Australia Decides competition made its debut on Saturday night and it seems that Aussies have decided they love Eurovision with the show making it into the top ten rated shows for the evening.

According to the ratings on TV Tonight, 298,000 people tuned in to see Brisbane artist Kate Miller-Heidke take out the top spot to represent Australia at the Eurovision competition in Tel Aviv this year as part of the 2019 Eurovision Australia Decides - Winner Announced show.

The SBS broadcasted show was split into three parts, including the singing competition and voting process, with included performances from competitors including drag queen Courtney Act, Killing Heidi's Ella Hooper, Bachelor Girl's Tania Doko, duo Electric Fields and more. 


The Songs came in at 11th position for the evening with 282,000 viewers, while The Votes was at 14th and picked up 261,000 viewers.

Additionally, the competition dominated Twitter with the show and artists trending throughout the evening proving that there's a clear appetite for well-produced singing competitions in Australia. 

The Eurovision competition will take place in May and will be broadcast exclusively in Australia on SBS.
