The former drummer of a Sydney band has been sentenced to nine years in prison after attacking three people at a 7-Eleven store with an axe in 2017.

As ABC reports, Evie Amati, who formerly featured in Sydney trio, Everything I Own Is Broken, was found guilty of two counts of wounding with intent to murder and one count of attempted wounding with intent to murder last August

Amati was caught on CCTV footage entering a 7-Eleven in Newtown in January 2017, before she swung an axe at two customers, hitting one in the face and the other in the back of the head.

The now-26-year-old then exited the store and swung the axe twice at another man.

Not long after the attack was carried out, she was found by police lying on the front yard of a property on Stanmore Road.

Amati pleaded not guilty on mental health grounds and claims to have no memory of the attack, alleging she was under the influence of hormone medication, cannabis, amphetamines and alcohol.

Judge Mark Williams said the attack was "a very serious and confronting episode".

"The risk of death was high in each cases and the fact that death did not occur was entirely a matter of good fortune," Williams said.
