Germs bassist Lorna Doom, aka Teresa Ryan, has passed away aged 50.

As Pitchfork reports, while her cause of death is currently unknown, the band’s drummer, Don Bolles, confirmed her passing via social media.

Lorna Doom was an original member of LA outfit Germs, helping shape punk in the ‘70s with seminal LP (GI), the band’s first and only album, produced by Joan Jett and featured across Penelope Spheeris’ 1981 documentary The Decline of Western Civilization.

Germs disbanded in 1980 following the death of singer Darby Crash before reuniting in ’05 with actor Shane West on vocals for a reunion show and number of other performances in the years that followed.
