In the 24 hours since broadcaster Triple M announced their Ozzest 100 countdown, which will be taking place on 26 Jan next year, there has been a slew of calls against the campaign.
Triple M yesterday announced a surprising move to hold its own top 100 playlist on Australia Day next year, just weeks after triple j announced it is moving the date of the Hottest 100.

Most prominently have been calls from members of the entertainment industry slamming Triple M for their choice of date, with AB Originals' Adam Briggs, and musician Dan Sultan among the most vocal.
In a statement shared with The Music today, Sultan said of the countdown that it's “One step forward, one step back. It’s time to get better!”
When approached by The Music for further comment on their announcement, Triple M offered just one previously released statement from Triple M Head of Content Mike Fitzpatrick, saying "At Triple M we are avid supporters of Aussie music and like we do throughout the year and every Australia Day we will celebrate Aussie artists."

AB Original Petition To Get January 26 Voted Into Triple M's "Redneck" Ozzest 100 Countdown
Comedian Wil Anderson, who is a host on Triple M's Hot Breakfast program, has shared his dismay in the station's decision via Twitter.
"I was as shocked and disappointed as you would imagine as someone who has vocally an on the record expressed how proud I was of Triple J and has done a lot of on the record support of the change of date," he said when asked about the countdown by a follower.
"I have officially expressed my thoughts to them late last night."

Extremely shocked and disappointed by it all and have made that clear to management yesterday and will continue to hold and prosecute why I don't think it's a good idea

I like to think you can have a voice where sometimes that voice isn't being expressed

We should ruin #TripleM’s redneck countdown and stick @ABOriginalBAM & @dansultan January 26 right in the middle of their cross burning.
