If you're looking for a feel-good story, consider yourself sorted for the week.
Just weeks after Sydney producer and studio owner Michael McGlynn had around $8,000 stolen in a car break-in, the local music community have rallied behind him in the best way possible.
On Tuesday night McGlynn, who regularly engineers The Music Podcast With Dave & Neil at his Annandale studio Vienna People, was stunned by friends, family and figures in the industry who hosted a surprise fundraiser at Kirribilli Hotel (where he regularly performs).
"I honestly can’t put that feeling into adequate words," McGlynn told The Music.
"There was just so much love and joy in the room - it’s a feeling I'll take with me for the rest of my life."
The fundraiser was so successful that nearly $10,000 was raised for McGlynn, well above the total lost during the theft.

"It's so important to surround yourself with good people both personally and professionally - life’s too short for anything less," McGlynn said.
"And there are so many kind and compassionate people in the music industry - people who really feel deeply, and care about others. It’s a beautiful thing. The love and support I’ve been shown by so many people far outweighs the value of the gear that was stolen - it’s not even close.
"Several people have said this has helped restore their faith in humanity - so it’s helped way more people than just myself. Love spreads like wildfire if you let it."
While the money raised will go a long way to McGlynn replacing all the lost equipment, the producer said he hopes to use some of the money to support other musicians.
"My goal is to repay everyone a million times over - by fighting for causes I believe in and fighting for musicians to be heard, and producing music that people love," he said.
"It will be a lifelong goal of mine to make every cent of that money count and then some.
"Everyone involved in this has changed my life in beautiful ways I can’t possibly describe and I want to do that for other people."
Some music names that were present on the night included hip hop artist L-FRESH The LION, Mirrah, Themba and Kat from The Khanz and Luke Escombe.
