Just when you think the cast of the upcoming The Lion King remake couldn't get any bigger, Disney go ahead and cast Beyoncé in a lead role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the music superstar has been confirmed to take on the role of Nala; childhood friend and later love interest of Simba, played by fellow US artist and actor, Donald Glover.
Beyoncé joins a cast that already boasts some huge talent, including James Earl Jones (reprising his role of Mufasa from the 1994 original), Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner (Pumbaa and Timon) and John Oliver (Zazu).
Directing the remake is Jon Favreau who filmed last year's critically-acclaimed remake of The Jungle Book.
"It is a director's dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life," Favreau said in a statement.
The Lion King is due for release on 19 July, 2019.
