The upcoming return to Australian shores for legendary Japanese instrumental rockers MONO is bearing ever closer, and today an esteemed group of Aussie acts have been announced as the local supports to join the international fly-ins and national support act Dumbsaint at the upcoming shows.
In Brisbane, where the tour kicks off, audiences will rock out to the acclaimed sounds of Balloons Kill Babies, who recently released their excellent new EP, Prodromal; Sydney will be treated to the resurgent Grun, hot on the heels of their first record in several years; Melbourne will welcome Solkyri, who've been a bit quiet of late but remain one of the nation's finest post-rock bands; and Adelaide instrumental rockers Last Days Of Kali will do the honours in their hometown.
The tour itself is a celebration of a decade passing since MONO's inaugural jaunt to our shores, the occasion made all the more special by heading to the South Australian capital for the first time.
The run comes in the wake of their lauded 2016 album Requiem For Hell, a five-track (but 45ish-minute-long) epic of astronomical proportions that is both ample jumping-on point for anyone who's missed their extensive back catalogue, and a cinematic culmination of everything that's come before.
MONO's 2017 Australian tour is proudly presented by The Music, and kicks off from 8 November. Tickets are available now.
