Having already commemorated a quarter of a century as a band with their massive orchestral shows earlier this year, venerated Aussie outfit The Whitlams have announced a follow-up jaunt through some of their favourite metro and regional venues in May and June 2018.
The multi-Platinum-selling, ARIA Award-winning band will kick off with two shows at Newcastle's Lizotte's on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 May, heading on to stages in Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Adelaide, Wagga Wagga and Albury.
Supports are yet to be confirmed for most of these gigs with the exception of Newcastle — where they'll be playing on their lonesome — and the east-coast capitals, the Gold Coast and Adelaide, where they'll be joined by stalwart singer-songwriters Alex Lloyd and Deborah Conway.
According to frontman Tim Freedman, the shows will do a deep dive into the band's seven-album oeuvre, busting out not only their well-travelled favourites but also some rarer cuts to mark the special occasion.
"We are looking forward to eight weeks straight and delving deep into the catalogue," Freedman said in a statement.
"We are going to prepare some rarely played album cuts from the first two albums, Introducing and Undeniably, and I’m sure they’ll suit the pubs as well as they did 25 years ago."
