Australian actress and singer Natalie Mendoza has joined the growing list of women who have spoken out about being sexually harrassed by disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
As Herald Sun reports, the Melbourne-raised artist, who formed one half of pop duo Jackson Mendoza, said she was groped by Weinstein during a meeting around the time she was filming The Great Raid in 2002.
"I might have told Mr W mid-script 'meeting' after he sent his assistant out that I'd punch him if he didn’t take his hands off me," she wrote in a post shared on Facebook.
"Shook all the way home but high-fived myself for knowing my self worth in my early 20s.
"I knew my first film would be my last after that and I was more than OK about it."
The Great Raid was to be Mendoza's first film of a three-picture deal with Miramax.
In a follow-up post, Mendoza wrote, "I was so naive I did not realise it was a set-up. I managed to escape with my integrity intact. I was shaken and dazed but OK."
Jackson Mendoza, formed with Mendoza's sister Rebecca, enjoyed a successful, albeit-short-lived, career, with the tracks, Venus Or Mars (1999) and Ordinary Girl (2000), both charting in the top 50 of the ARIA Singles charts.
The group disbanded after both members went on to pursue acting careers.
Mendoza has since appeared in films such as Moulin Rouge! and The Descent.
